Oven Baked Churros

Hello readers!

Oven baked churros, do they work? Yes they do, and they taste amazing whilst being much better for you as no deep fat frying is involved in this recipe. This recipe is so simple and quick and taste just as good or even better than the deep fat fried churros.

What you will need:
ingredients:
-125g plain flour (all purpose flour)
-250ml water
-110g salted butter
-1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
-2 tablespoons of caster sugar (or brown sugar, either works just as great)
-2 eggs
-3 tablespoons of sugar (for coating)

Equipment:
-saucepan
-wooden spoon
-measuring jug
-teaspoon
-measuring scales
-baking tray
-piping bag
-baking paper
-an oven

1) preheat oven to 180 degrease. Then line two tins with baking paper. (mine took 2 baking trays but it depends on the size you decided to pipe your churros)

2) Melt together the butter and water bring this to the boil then add the vanilla extract, remove from the heat.

3) Stir in the flour. At this point your mixture should start looking like mashed potatoes, this is totally normal so don't panic. Keep mixing until the dough doesn't touch the sides of the pan.

4) Next stir in the caster sugar, keep mixing as you want to allow the mixture to cool slightly before adding the eggs so they don't scramble.

5)  Add in one egg at a time. Keep mixing to prevent the eggs from scrambling.

6) place the mixture in a piping bag and pipe equal sized churros.

7) bake for 15-20 minutes.

8) When they come out of the oven, coat them in the sugar (add cinnamon if you wish)

9) present your churros (I decided to present mine with melted chocolate, a yummy extra)

I would love to see your churros, send me a picture on twitter! @weekly_beauty
